British pop star Lily Allen has suffered a miscarriage. The Smile singer, who was six months pregnant with a baby boy by her boyfriend Sam Cooper, was admitted to a hospital on Thursday morning after complaining of stomach pains, but efforts to save her unborn child over the weekend failed.
A statement from the star's representative confirms the news: "It is with great sadness that we have to confirm that Lily Allen and Sam Cooper have lost their baby. The couple ask that their privacy be respected and that they be left alone at this deeplydistressing time. No further comment will be made."
The 'Smile' hitmaker said: "The weird thing about being pregnant is that it seems to give people the license to talk about your body shape and say things like 'Wow you have got so big!'. Thanks, I always say, 'I'm embracing it.' "
Allen previously suffered a miscarriage in 2007 just months after she announced she was expecting a baby with Chemical Brothers star Ed Simmons.
She explained: "I didn't even start beginning to deal with it until the baby's due date. Then it hit me like a house collapsing.
